whoever loses his life for my sake will find it

“Whoever wishes to come after me must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me. For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.” (MT 16: 24-15)

We found Our Lord: we know where He is, and we follow Him. The next step is: “whoever wishes to come after Our Lord must deny himself and take up his cross.” We follow the Lord, who gave His life for us and for our salvation, so we also want to “lose our lives for His sake to find it.” Like in marriage—whoever wishes to be served and to be a receiver rather than a giver will lose his/her relationship, but whoever wishes to be a sincere gift of self rather than a demander will find a joyful relationship and happiness.

“Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness; for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven.” (Gospel Acclamation)
