whoever eats this bread will live forever

“This is the bread that came down from heaven. Unlike your ancestors who ate and still died, whoever eats this bread will live forever.” (JN 6: 58)

Our Lord knows perfectly how difficult our lives could be, especially when we really want to live our lives connected with Him and oriented to heaven. So He became “the bread that came down from heaven,” and “whoever eats this bread will live forever.” This bread doesn’t give us the strength to work, or to be healthier, this is food for eternal life, to support our pilgrimage to heaven.
