What does the Lord ask of you?

August 14, 2017 6:00 am

“And now, Israel, what does the LORD, your God, ask of you but to fear the LORD, your God, and follow his ways exactly, to love and serve the LORD, your God, with all your heart and all your soul, to keep the commandments and statutes of the LORD which I enjoin on you today for your own good?” (DT 10: 12-13)

God, Who is love, expects from us exactly the same: “to love and serve the Lord.” And like God, Who is all love, we also can love “with all our heart and all our soul.” This way we not only imitate His love but also reach our identity, like St. Maximilian, who gave his life “to possess the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

“God has called you through the Gospel to possess the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Gospel Acclamation)
