We see nothing before us but this manna

“Would that we had meat for food! We remember the fish we used to eat without cost in Egypt, and the cucumbers, the melons, the leeks, the onions, and the garlic.
But now we are famished; we see nothing before us but this manna.” (NM 11: 4-6)

We like changes: we move, we change our jobs, we try new things in restaurants, or we travel to see new places. If not, we would stay the same: “now we are famished; we see nothing before us but this manna.” At the same time, we could be very creative. In my country we like potatoes, and we have hundreds of recipes to make them for a meal. The same strategy we can use to protect our relationship: we keep rituals, we try to refresh all our ways to communicate love and respect; the same spouse and a thousand gestures to tell her/him—I love you.

“One does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes forth from the mouth of God.” (Gospel Acclamation)
