We all partake of the one loaf

“The cup of blessing that we bless, is it not a participation in the Blood of Christ? The bread that we break, is it not a participation in the Body of Christ? Because the loaf of bread is one, we, though many, are one Body, for we all partake of the one loaf.” (1 COR 10: 16-17)

There are many reasons to be united with others: because we are family members, organization members, or Church members. The other reason is that without building a community of persons, we can’t grow as person. But there is also one more—we “participate in the Blood of Christ,” and it makes us His kin with everyone else who comes to the Altar to receive Holy Communion.
