the tender compassion of our God

December 24, 2019 3:00 am

“In the tender compassion of our God the dawn from on high shall break upon us, to shine on those who dwell in darkness and the shadow of death, and to guide our feet into the way of peace.” (LK 1: 78-79)

We are loved, we were loved, and we will be loved because we are God’s children. He wants “to guide our feet into the way of peace.” He is coming this night “in the tender compassion” “to shine on those who dwell in darkness and the shadow of death.” He is coming as a newborn child, to make our relationship easier and bring the “splendor of eternal light” into our hearts.

“O Radiant Dawn, splendor of eternal light, sun of justice: come and shine on those who dwell in darkness and in the shadow of death.” (Gospel Acclamation)
