“It is not right for us to neglect the word of God to serve at table. Brothers, select from among you seven reputable men, filled with the Spirit and wisdom, whom we shall appoint to this task, whereas we shall devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word.” (ACTS 6: 2-4)

The Church is a community with talents and gifts, structured hierarchically: „It is not right for us to neglect the word of God to serve at table.” The most important work in the Church is to proclaim the Good News, „prayer, and the ministry of the word.”  It doesn’t mean that the “service at the table” is in opposition to prayer or spiritual life: they „select seven reputable men, filled with the Spirit and wisdom.” In every society we have different services; when they are based on „the Spirit and wisdom,” they support each other and serve to the same end.
