The measure

June 20, 2016 4:12 am

“Stop judging, that you may not be judged. For as you judge, so will you be judged, and the measure with which you measure will be measured out to you.” (MT 7: 1-2)

This is not a prohibition against recognizing the faults of others but against passing judgment in a spirit of arrogance, forgetful of one’s own faults. We are called to protect, to defend and to show mercy, like Our Lord does always with us. More grace comes with mercy than with judgment because judgment only recognizes faults, but mercy also puts a medicine on them.

“The word of God is living and effective,  able to discern reflections and thoughts of the heart.” (Gospel Acclamation)
