The man believed what Jesus said to him and left

“The royal official said to him, ‘Sir, come down before my child dies.’ Jesus said to him, ‘You may go; your son will live.’ The man believed what Jesus said to him and left.” (JN 4: 49-50)

Probably we would ask again to be sure that Our Lord understands what we ask for. He asked for Our Lord’s visit—“come down before my child dies,” and Jesus gave him what he really needed—“your son will live.” “The man believed what Jesus said to him and left.” Simple action—he left. When we ask for something, we should distinguish between what we really need from Jesus and how Our Lord should respond.

“Seek good and not evil so that you may live, and the LORD will be with you.” (Gospel Acclamation)
