The gift of God

October 17, 2016 7:11 am

“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not from you; it is the gift of God; it is not from works, so no one may boast. For we are his handiwork, created in Christ Jesus for good works that God has prepared in advance, that we should live in them.” (EPH 2: 8-10)

St. Paul reminds us of what we received as God’s children: “by grace we have been saved;” “it is a gift of God”; “it is not from works”—“for we are his handiwork, created in Christ Jesus.”  Everything we received from Him, “so no one may boast” “for [the] good works that God has prepared in advance, that we should live in them.” Our Lord takes care of every moment in our lives. How grateful we should be.

“Blessed are the poor in spirit; for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven.” (Gospel Acclamation)
