Small and simple things

“…if the prophet had told you to do something extraordinary, would you not have done it? All the more now, since he said to you, ‘Wash and be clean,’ should you do as he said.” (2 KGS 5:13)

How often we think about doing something bold or big for Him. And He expects simplicity from us. It wasn’t a big thing – “Go and wash seven times” (2 KGS 5:10). Sometimes it is better to do something small but for a long time. When I read this passage I always think about the last time, the seventh time the man washed himself. After the sixth time he was still ill. After the seventh – “his flesh became again like the flesh of little child” (2 KGS 5, 14). He trusted Him and God made him a child again. A God’s child. Because for God we are always His children. And this is the safest relationship.

“I hope in the Lord, I trust in his work; with him there is kindness and plenteous redemption.” (Verse before the Gospel)
