Rich in what matters to God

October 19, 2015 6:00 am

“‘You fool, this night your life will be demanded of you; and the things you have prepared, to whom will they belong?’ Thus will it be for the one who stores up treasure for himself but is not rich in what matters to God.” (LK 12: 20-21)

On one hand, we have “the one who stores up treasure for himself,” and on the other hand, we have another person, who’s “rich in what matters to God.” We know the huge difference between being a sincere gift of self, which is free, creative and joyful, and being a self-centered person, who takes everything only for himself. In the latter case, at the end, they will have a very sad experience.

“Blessed are the poor in spirit; for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven.” (Gospel Acclamation)
