Observing Him carefully

“On a sabbath Jesus went to dine at the home of one of the leading Pharisees, and the people there were observing him carefully.” (LK 14: 1)

“The people there were observing him carefully,” not to follow Him, but to judge Him. When Our Lord asked them two questions—“they were silent.” When we listen to Him and “hear His voice,” we do this to follow Him and to make our lives an answer to His love.  

“My sheep hear my voice, says the Lord; I know them, and they follow me.” (Gospel Acclamation)
