Love is the fulfillment of the law

“The commandments, You shall not commit adultery; you shall not kill; you shall not steal; you shall not covet, and whatever other commandment there may be, are summed up in this saying, namely, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. Love does no evil to the neighbor; hence, love is the fulfillment of the law.” (ROM 13: 9-10)

There are days when we have so many tasks or things to do on our shoulders that we become like robots moving from one task to another one, dreaming of the moment when we fill finish all of them on time; we think that the result is in “fulfillment.” Actually, all “fulfillment of any kind of the law” is in love. While it is important to finish what we are obliged to do, if there is no love inside of our actions, we are missing something which is the most important.

“If you are insulted for the name of Christ, blessed are you, for the Spirit of God rests upon you.” (Gospel Acclamation)
