I will make you fishers of men

“As Jesus was walking by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon who is called Peter, and his brother Andrew, casting a net into the sea; they were fishermen. He said to them, ‘Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men.’” (MT 4: 18-19)

Ordinary fishermen becoming “fishers of men”? Impossible? Not for Our Lord, everything is possible for Him—“I will make you fishers of men.” He called us, ordinary men and women, and made us “fishers of men”; priests, consecrated people, husbands, wives, fathers and mothers. We are called by the amazing love of God to “come after Him.”

“Come after me, says the Lord, and I will make you fishers of men.” (Gospel Acclamation)
