I will follow you wherever you go

“A scribe approached and said to him, ‘Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go.’ Jesus answered him, ‘Foxes have dens and birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to rest his head.’” (MT 8: 19-20)

When we decide to follow God’s will, like the scribe from today’s reading: “Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go,” we need to be ready for the unexpected. If “the Son of Man has nowhere to rest his head,” it could happened to us. We can plan a very stable life, but we can receive something totally different. An open heart and mind will help us “harden not our hearts” when we “hear his voice.”

“If today you hear his voice, harden not your hearts.” (Gospel Acclamation)
