He took away our infirmities and bore our diseases

“When it was evening, they brought him many who were possessed by demons, and he drove out the spirits by a word and cured all the sick, to fulfill what had been said by Isaiah the prophet: He took away our infirmities and bore our diseases.” (MT 8: 16-17)

Our merciful Lord came to proclaim God’s love to us. “He drove out the spirits by a word and cured all the sick.” We can come to Him personally; we can “bring Him many who are” sick or possessed; we can bring Him our marriages, our conflicts and need for a new job. He came to “bear our diseases.”
