he proclaimed Jesus to him

“Then the eunuch said to Philip in reply, “I beg you, about whom is the prophet saying this? About himself, or about someone else?” Then Philip opened his mouth and, beginning with this Scripture passage, he proclaimed Jesus to him.” (ACTS 8: 34-35)

This Scripture passage and many others in the Acts of the Apostles are the beginnings of street evangelization. Philip, open to the Holy Spirit, followed an angel’s directions and was ready to proclaim Jesus. We also have many occasions to do the same. Maybe less spectacular, maybe more in our homes—to our children or spouses, maybe more simple in form, but for sure we are invited to evangelize.

“I am the living bread that came down from heaven, says the Lord; whoever eats this bread will live forever.” (Gospel Acclamation)
