devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word

“It is not right for us to neglect the word of God to serve at table. Brothers, select from among you seven reputable men, filled with the Spirit and wisdom, whom we shall appoint to this task, whereas we shall devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word.” (ACTS 6: 2-4) 

As community members we have different roles, different responsibilities and different talents. We serve the same community, and we use all our talents to make it better and stronger. We can’t do everything. We need to share. And we need to follow God’s will: “it is not right for us to neglect the word of God to serve at table.” We have different tasks for priests and consecrated people and different tasks for lay people, but with the same love and dedication to serve.
