At daybreak

September 6, 2017 6:00 am

“At daybreak, Jesus left and went to a deserted place. The crowds went looking for him, and when they came to him, they tried to prevent him from leaving them. But he said to them, “To the other towns also I must proclaim the good news of the Kingdom of God, because for this purpose I have been sent.” (LK 4: 42-43)

Luke’s Gospel is full of precise descriptions of where and when things happen; “at sunset,” “at daybreak,” “after he left the synagogue,” “in the synagogues of Judea,” etc. Every moment is important in Jesus’ life. This time, “at daybreak, Jesus left and went to a deserted place.” He is always in connection with His Father; He is always focused on His relationship with Him, which helps Him to do the right things at the right moment: “To the other towns also I must proclaim the good news of the Kingdom of God.”

“The Lord sent me to bring glad tidings to the poor and to proclaim liberty to captives.” (Gospel Acclamation)
