All the people were hanging on his words

November 18, 2016 5:00 am

“And every day he was teaching in the temple area. The chief priests, the scribes, and the leaders of the people, meanwhile, were seeking to put him to death, but they could find no way to accomplish their purpose because all the people were hanging on his words.” (LK 19: 47-48)

On one hand “the chief priests, the scribe, and the leaders of the people… were seeking to put him to death”; on the other hand, “all the people were hanging on his words.” Our Lord “was teaching in the temple area” every day, but they were listening to a totally different message. We would like to listen to His voice like His sheep.

“My sheep hear my voice, says the Lord; I know them, and they follow me.” (Gospel Acclamation)
