You shall not put the Lord, your God, to the test

“Jesus said to him in reply, ‘It also says, You shall not put the Lord, your God, to the test.’ When the devil had finished every temptation, he departed from him for a time.” (LK 4: 12-13)

We “put the Lord, our God, to the test” when we expect that God will do for us what we can do for ourselves, or He will just answer to all our needs. We should honor Our God; we should follow His orders, and we should do whatever is possible to fulfill His plan for us. Our Lord expects that when we are married we will protect our relationship and we will grow as a husband and wife, instead of expecting that He will give us the best husband or wife.

“One does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes forth from the mouth of God.” (Gospel Acclamation)
