“Rather, whoever wishes to be great among you shall be your servant; whoever wishes to be first among you shall be your slave. Just so, the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.” (MT 20: 26-28)
We know perfectly the temptation “to be served” and we have some idealistic expectations of our great lives. But we know that this is not the right road to being “great.” The quality of our lives is measured by our service with love and sharing our lives as a gift of selves.
“I chose you from the world, to go and bear fruit that will last, says the Lord.” (Gospel Acclamation)
