This is my beloved Son. Listen to him. 

“Then a cloud came, casting a shadow over them; from the cloud came a voice,  ‘This is my beloved Son. Listen to him.’ Suddenly, looking around, they no longer saw anyone but Jesus alone with them.” (MK 9: 7-8)

We are seeing today the love between father and son, their trust and faith; the love of Abraham for Isaac and for the Father. To God the Father, we are His beloved children. He takes care, He protects–and most importantly—He loves. 

“From the shining cloud the Father’s voice is heard: This is my beloved Son, listen to him.” (Gospel Acclamation)
