There is a boy here

“Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, said to him, “There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish; but what good are these for so many?”” (JN 6: 8-9)

There is a small difference between the answers given to Our Lord by Philip and Andrew: both of them saw the problem—”Two hundred days’ wages worth of food would not be enough for each of them to have a little,” and “what good are these for so many?”, but Andrew started with what is possible—”There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish.” When we give, even almost nothing from our perspective, to Our Lord, He can feed thousands. Our small actions, based on our trust in Him, can bring amazing fruits to the Church.

“One does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes forth from the mouth of God.” (Gospel Acclamation)
