The living bread

“I am the bread of life. Your ancestors ate the manna in the desert, but they died; this is the bread that comes down from heaven so that one may eat it and not die. I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my Flesh for the life of the world.” (JN 6: 48-51)

We receive “the living bread” with every Holy Communion. In these days in many of our parishes, we can observe this when our children are older or participate in their First Holy Communion. We helped our children to prepare for this moment; we invited relatives and friends to be with us, and today we can, seeing the emotions of our or other children, remember our First Communion and refresh our desire to be closer to Him today. And we can thank Him for all of these years being together.

“I am the living bread that came down from heaven, says the Lord; whoever eats this bread “
