The gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord

“But now that you have been freed from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit that you have leads to sanctification, and its end is eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (ROM 6: 22-23)

We “have been freed from sin” by Our Lord; He gave His life for our lives. We couldn’t have our sins forgiven without His grace. He won over Satan; He won over death and gave us “eternal life.” Our role is to stay as close to Him as possible and to be connected with Him in our hearts, thoughts and actions—“that I may gain Christ and be found in him.”
