The crowds went looking for him

“At daybreak, Jesus left and went to a deserted place. The crowds went looking for him, and when they came to him, they tried to prevent him from leaving them.” (LK 4: 42)

We can see a totally different reaction in Capernaum (“they tried to prevent him from leaving them”) than in Nazareth, where Jesus, in his hometown, was rejected. In every generation we are “looking for Him” because with Him we are stronger, we are loved and we are protected. It is always good to start our days with Him: “at daybreak, Jesus left and went to a deserted place.” It doesn’t matter if it is downtown or a village, my study or bedroom, a couch or coffee table—the only important thing is to be with Him alone for a moment.

“The Lord sent me to bring glad tidings to the poor and to proclaim liberty to captives.” (Gospel Acclamation
