Receive the Holy Spirit.

“And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, ‘Receive the Holy Spirit. Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are retained.’” (JN 20: 22-23)

We celebrate today Pentecost Sunday, the moment when the Apostles received the Holy Spirit. He was given to forgive our sins, to bring us back to God the Father in the state in which we were created, to enjoy our relationship with Him fully, and to be a saint and perfect in love. Every sin focuses us on ourselves, on our idealistic visions, on our expectations, what we should receive from others, on our benefits. Love is focusing on giving, sharing, protecting, and serving. The Holy Spirit, Who is the love of Father and Son, will teach us how to love others.

“Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love.” (Gospel Acclamation)
