Put on the new self

August 5, 2018 6:00 am

“…that you should put away the old self of your former way of life, corrupted through deceitful desires, and be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and put on the new self, created in God’s way in righteousness and holiness of truth.” (EPH 4: 22-24)

Our “the old self” drives us to protect ourselves, to control others and to receive as much from life as possible. The person, “created in God’s way in righteousness and holiness of truth,” “the new self,” on the other hand, is focused on being a gift of self—how to protect my dearest ones and how to make them the most happy persons in life; from demander to giver.

“One does not live on bread alone, but by every word that comes forth from the mouth of God.” (Gospel Acclamation)
