No servant can serve two masters.

“No servant can serve two masters. He will either hate one and love the other, or be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.” (LK 16: 13)

This is a universal rule. This is about our relationship with God (“you cannot serve God and mammon”); this is about marriage—monogamy; this is about being a gift of self or making demands. “No servant can serve two masters.”

“Jesus Christ became poor although he was rich, so that by his poverty you might become rich.” (Gospel Acclamation)
