no resistance

“You have heard that it was said, an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. But I say to you, offer no resistance to one who is evil. When someone strikes you on your right cheek, turn the other one to him as well.” (MT 5: 38-39)

We learn how to be givers, not demanders. We learn how to defend our spouses from our inner dialog and mistaken patterns of interpretation. Today we learn how to “offer no resistance to one who is evil,” because Our Lord wants us to see our lives from His perspective, where violence is not an option. We know, that we can achieve a lot using force and violence, and we know, that it never finishes well. Try to do it with spouse and children and soon you will be alone; do it with your clients and you will be out of business. The real strength comes from inside, from Our Lord.
