My disciples

“My children, I will be with you only a little while longer. I give you a new commandment: love one another. As I have loved you, so you also should love one another. This is how all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” (JN 13: 33-35)

“Disciples” are recognized by only one thing—“all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another,” and the model for this love is also one: Our Lord—“as I have loved you, so you also should love one another.” His example was gentle, respectful, enduring, based on rituals, patient, creative, chaste and unconditional—“as I have loved you.”

“I give you a new commandment, says the Lord: love one another as I have loved you.” (Gospel Acclamation)
