More than the rest

“I tell you truly, this poor widow put in more than all the rest; for those others have all made offerings from their surplus wealth, but she, from her poverty, has offered her whole livelihood.” (LK 21: 3-4) 

“More than all the rest” wasn’t based on quantity, but quality. An unconditional gift, a gift given from the heart, contains love, and only love can reach God’s heart. Detachment from material possessions and dependence on God lead to blessedness.

“Stay awake! For you do not know when the Son of Man will come.”
