Let your “Yes” mean “yes”

“Let your ‘Yes’ mean ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No’ mean ‘No.’ Anything more is from the Evil One.” (MT 5: 37)

It is popular, in these days, to be a “yes, but. . .” person. “Are you catholic?” – “Yes, but I do not agree with the teaching against (abortion, contraception, lifelong marriages, etc.).” Our Lord’s teaching is simple: “let your “yes” mean ‘yes.’” Nothing more.
