Jesus had not yet come to them

“When it was evening, the disciples of Jesus went down to the sea, embarked in a boat, and went across the sea to Capernaum. It had already grown dark, and Jesus had not yet come to them.” (JN 6: 1; 6-17)

We have moments in our lives when it looks like “it has already grown dark,” and Jesus has forgotten about us—we feel alone, abandoned, and misunderstood, and everything goes wrong. But moments of “dark” also could mean that Our Lord is coming. He is merciful, He loves us, and He always comes with comfort, grace and His presence.

“Christ is risen, who made all things; he has shown mercy on all people.” (Gospel Acclamation)
