it is the smallest of all the seeds

“The Kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed that a person took and sowed in a field. It is the smallest of all the seeds, yet when full-grown it is the largest of plants. It becomes a large bush, and the birds of the sky come and dwell in its branches.” (MT 13: 31-32)

It is good to be “the smallest” and to put my trust in Him, who knows me perfectly and will make me whom I should be—“full-grown.” Our lives are meant to serve others who “will dwell in our branches.” Our maturity is expressed by the gift of self.

“The Father willed to give us birth by the word of truth that we may be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.” (Gospel Acclamation)
