in the desert prepare the way of the Lord

“A voice cries out: In the desert prepare the way of the LORD! Make straight in the wasteland a highway for our God! Every valley shall be filled in, every mountain and hill shall be made low; the rugged land shall be made a plain, the rough country, a broad valley.” (IS 40: 3-4)

What is today’s desert? I am afraid that it is a married life. We are busy with our business, our work, and all kind of services. We are busy with our family life, taking care of our children. We are busy taking care of ourselves, keeping diets and all kind of healthy activities, but for our relationship, there is no time. This area is like a desert. So, during this Advent, we are inspired to “in the desert prepare the way of the Lord,” spending every day a minimum of 20 minutes together and “the rough country shall be made a broad valley.”
