in haste

“Mary set out in those days and traveled to the hill country in haste to a town of Judah, where she entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth.” (LK 1: 39-40)

Our liturgy is so solemn and majestic; every gesture, move and word is full of mystery—it looks like time slowed down. It is because we would like to celebrate these moments again and again and enjoy everything we have received from God. But there is also some kind of urgency and haste when we want to share with others the Good News, like Our Lady, who traveled “in haste” to meet Elizabeth and enjoy with her the mystery of God’s presence in their lives.

“O Emmanuel, our King and Giver of Law: come to save us, Lord our God!” (Gospel Acclamation)
