“Beloved, let us love one another, because love is of God; everyone who loves is begotten by God and knows God. Whoever is without love does not know God, for God is love.” (1 JN 4: 7-8)
Sometimes people make a mistake; they think if “God is love” we can simply reverse it to—love is God, and they do whatever they want because love is their “God.” It is true: “God is love,” but “love is of God.” When we accept God’s love, when we learn from Him—“because love is of God”—and when we “love one another,” we “know God” and we can love properly.
“Whoever loves me will keep my word, says the Lord, and my Father will love him and we will come to him.” (Gospel Acclamation)
