Go first and be reconciled with your brother

“Therefore, if you bring your gift to the altar, and there recall that your brother has anything against you, leave your gift there at the altar, go first and be reconciled with your brother, and then come and offer your gift.” (MT 5: 23-24)

There is no relationship with God if we are not in a relationship with our brothers and sisters. I am always scared when I see piety in isolation from his or her vocation—spouses who pray like consecrated people, who know the Bible more than the life of his/her spouse. Be a good spouse, love your spouse, love your children, protect your relationship, spend 20 minutes daily in a good relationship with your spouse, and I will forgive you missing a rosary or your daily Bible readings. “Leave your gift there at the altar, go first, and be reconciled with your brother, and then come and offer your gift.”

“I give you a new commandment: love one another as I have loved you.” (Gospel Acclamation)
