Children of your heavenly Father

“But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your heavenly Father, for he makes his sun rise on the bad and the good, and causes rain to fall on the just and the unjust.” (MT 5: 44-46)

It is an honor to be called “children of your heavenly Father,” but also a huge challenge. This is a really new commandment: “to love one another as Our Lord has loved us.” It is possible because we are loved this way. Our Lord came to us when we were sinners and His enemies, and He is supporting us knowing how weak we are, how often we fall in sins and how much time it takes for us to grow and be mature; He is never upset, He is always patient, and He always loves.

“I give you a new commandment; love one another as I have loved you.” (Gospel Acclamation)
