Children of the coming age

November 25, 2017 6:00 am

“The children of this age marry and remarry; but those who are deemed worthy to attain to the coming age and to the resurrection of the dead neither marry nor are given in marriage. They can no longer die, for they are like angels; and they are the children of God because they are the ones who will rise.” (LK 20: 34-36)

We are children of this age—we marry, but the next age is coming—“neither marry nor are given in marriage.” All of us are “children of God,” and we are going to spend eternity with our Lord. Marriage is a means to an end—to teach us how to love and to be a sincere gift of selves and to be with God.

“Our Savior Jesus Christ has destroyed death and brought life to light through the Gospel.” (Gospel Acclamation)
