Mighty Champion

April 11, 2014 9:48 am

“But the LORD is with me, like a mighty champion…” (Jer 20:11).

When it is about Him, He is like “a lamb led to slaughter or a sheep silent before shearers” (Is 53:7). But when it is about you, He is like a mighty champion. You are His beloved daughter, you are His beloved son, we are His children, and whoever is against us, trying to harm us or do anything evil to us – He is there to protect us like a mighty champion.

“Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I am in distress. Deliver me from the hands of my enemies and those who pursue me. O Lord, let me never be put to shame, for I call on you.” (Ps 31:10.16.18) – Entrance Antiphon

Exceedingly fertile

April 10, 2014 11:01 am

“I will render you exceedingly fertile” (GN 17:6).

We understand these words in a very special way. You as a parents, You as a FertilityCare Practitioners, doctors, teachers… And in a very special way – you who suffer from infertility or suffer from the loss of a child.

He is the most merciful Father and all parenthood comes from Him. There is no parenthood without God. And we are called to be servants to His love and His creation. And when we suffer – He suffers with us. And with Him there is always the happy ending (see the post in our blog) – even if we do not know how and when. When we listen to His voice, when we read the Gospel, we get to know Him better and understand His will better.

He knows how to change your life into “exceedingly fertile”.

“If today you hear his voice, harden not your hearts” (Verse before the Gospel).

His Angel

April 9, 2014 3:14 pm

“Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego,
who sent His angel to deliver the servants who trusted in Him” (Dn 3:28).

His Angel. And my Guardian Angel. The best friend I’ve ever had. The special gift from God – and from himself. Even if they are servants of God, they are not slaves. When one of the Angels was asked to be my Guardian Angel, he answered with love and readiness. And at this very moment he lost his previous “job description” – as a member of Thrones or Powers, Archangels or Angels. He became My Guardian Angel. And he has been sent by my God to protect me, and to take care of me.

Angel of God, my guardian dear,
to whom God’s love commits me here,
ever this day, be at my side,
to light and guard, to rule and guide.

“My deliverer from angry nations, you set me above my assailants; you saved me from the violent man, o Lord” (Ps 18:48-49) – Entrance Antiphon

How to please God

April 8, 2014 11:49 am

“…because I always do what is pleasing to Him” (J 8:29)

Our Lord knows His Father perfectly and, for sure, He knows what is pleasing to Him. We are invited to follow His ways.

The question always is: what is pleasing to Him? Where to look for the answer? He himself prayed  – “Our Father, who art in heaven… Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven…” The will of God. To be saint? Yes, of course. But we know that life is more specific. To become parents again or not? To change my work, or stay where I am? Switch to homeschooling or not? And many other questions. How to always do what is pleasing to Him?

I know that there is only one will of God – to love each other. If we put love first, we will see all else clearly. When we put our expectations first – we can’t. Because love is based on patience, respect, kindness and gift of self. And He promised to be with us forever. He is with us in His word, in the Eucharist, Sacrament of Penance and other Sacraments. And in many other ways. Just ask and He will come. In many different ways.

“Wait for the Lord; be strong; be stouthearted, and wait for the Lord” (Ps 27:14) – Entrance Antiphon

When nobody cares

April 7, 2014 1:17 pm

“They said this to test him…” (J 8:6).

There is nothing about sin, abused dignity, being used or being weak, led into temptation or hungry for any gesture of sympathy, affection or bond. No one is thinking about the woman. Even the Pharisees used her as a trap. Jesus cares for her and her dignity. Sin is sin, no doubt about that: “do not sin any more” (J 8:11).

He has come to give us life, true life, eternal life. He brings our dignity back to us when we sin. He looks at us as persons when we have been just tools for satisfying somebody else’s needs. He gives us grace and our Guardian Angel’s support when we are tempted.

“I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked man, says the Lord, but rather in his conversion, that he may live.” (Verse before the Gospel)

Jesus' tears

April 6, 2014 4:48 pm

“When Jesus saw her weeping and the Jews who had come with her weeping, he became perturbed and deeply troubled, and said, “Where have you laid him?”They said to him, “Sir, come and see.” And Jesus wept. So the Jews said, “See how he loved him”.” (J 11:33-36).

“See how he loved him”.  A very special relationship. Not a family, but friends. Connected by spirit. It is a real gift when we can be friends. Not because we are family members but because we are connected by something special.

Jesus invited us to be with Him as a friend. He has chosen us, because He would love to give us life, the eternal life. To be with us forever. We are so special in His eyes, so unique, so worthy. Even if we think that everything is gone, we are lost, empty, we are no longer worth anything – His friendship and love can bring us back to life. He cries out loud to everyone, as He called Lazarus from his grave: “come out”.

“I am the resurrection and the life, says the Lord; whoever believes in me, will never die”. (Verse before the Gospel).

Love and truth

April 5, 2014 6:31 pm

“Never before has anyone spoken like this man.” (J 7:46)

His words were totally about His Father and His love for us. He never used words for other purpose than only to proclaim the truth. And the truth was proclaimed with love. His words restored health, opened ears and eyes, gave new life…

“Blessed are they who kept the word with a generous heart, and yield a harvest through perseverance”. (Verse before the Gospel).

Gentleness

April 4, 2014 10:33 am

“With revilement and torture let us put him to the test that we may have proof of his gentleness and try his patience.” (Wis 2:19)

Gentleness is connected with patience. It expresses the full respect for the dignity of the other person. It is not just a simple reaction to somebody’s nice and kind behavior. It comes from the depth of my heart. The heart staying close to God, grounded in His love and rooted in His Word. Gentleness is the result of the fight with my own weakness and and the only proper attitude towards another person.

“One does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes forth from the mouth of God.” (Verse before the Gospel)

God's friends

April 3, 2014 12:09 pm

…”The LORD said to Moses, “Go down at once to your people whom you brought out of the land of Egypt, for they have become depraved… But Moses implored the LORD, his God, saying, “Why, O LORD, should your wrath blaze up against your own people,
whom you brought out of the land of Egypt with such great power and with so strong a hand?… So the LORD relented in the punishment he had threatened to inflict on his people.”

The Lord said to Moses, Moses implored the Lord. So the Lord…. God”s friends, like Moses. They keep this world going. They talk to Him and He answers them.

When we pray, we can change the future of our world. Even as small as my marriage or my family.

“God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, so that everyone who believes in him might have eternal life” (Verse before the Gospel)

He will never forget

April 2, 2014 6:12 pm

“Can a mother forget her infant, be without tenderness for the child of her womb? Even should she forget, I will never forget you.” (Is 49:15).

Never. Which means: we are ALWAYS in His heart. When we are away from our loved ones, we use letters or various little things that remind us of those people. He doesn’t need any of these. He will never forget us. There is no person in this world who is forgotten by Him. Among us, it is much easier, when we send to each other some nice reminders. It helps. The more we receive from God, the more we can share with the others.

“God did not send his Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved trough him” (Jn 3:17).
