As in his own family

March 22, 2013 7:28 pm

„Be very simple with me. What do you do for good morning and good night in your own family? You give a kiss and it’s very natural. And sometimes during the day because of a given word or a gift you exchange a glance. We look at each other with love and fondness. It is so nice and heart-warming.… oh, if only I were allowed to become a bit a family member…” (Gabriela Bossis, He and me, Michalineum 2007, vol. I ,p. 182).

I’d like Jesus so much to feel like a member of our family and not to miss attention, kindness, nice gestures and words. I’d like Him to take a rest in our place.

Through the sacrament of marriage He has become a full member of our family. Does He feel all right with us?

He's coming to be a Gift

February 26, 2013 4:42 pm

I state this with certainty, looking ath the face of our little Son. I could do it for hours on end.  :-) .

There has been so much joy and emotions for the two weeks. How much peace and gentleness such a Little One can bring into family, He can extract so much good and warmth from the family members. Though so small and helpless, He influences us so strongly – if only because whoever looks at him, smiles.

And he does not only come to take from us, although I must admit that taking care of such a baby is rather difficult. But when we remember that a child is above all a blessing, all other things come more easily…

Other than I think – continued

February 7, 2013 8:01 pm

As I relaxed before the birth, I watched an episode of the old film “Early Edition”. The hero believed that it was his task to save a plane from disaster (that he knew was going to happen at a certain time) and he did what he could to do this, He failed because in the meantime he took care of a girl that was hurt in a car accident and he didn’t make it on time to the airport. And he had great qualms of conscience that he didn’t manage.

He was so amazed when it turned out that the father of the saved girl who arrived at the airport at the hour of the expected disaster was the pilot of the plane that did not take off (and hence did not collapse) because of the accident of the pilot’s daughter.

and I just think to myself how limited our perception of reality is. Sometimes a situation when we fail or do not fulfil our plans is a necessary part of a bigger scheme of Somebody who always strives for greatest possible good and who sees better, further and deeper. I

It’s a pity I still cling to my visions and plans. It would be so much easier if I were constantly open to “other than I think”.

P.S.

Thank you, Gosia, for fresh inspirations and for the title that I like very much.  :-)

I rely on You

February 5, 2013 11:29 am

Why do you confuse yourselves by worrying? Leave the care of your affairs to me and everything will be peaceful. I say to you in truth that every act of true, blind, complete surrender to me produces the effect that you desire and resolves all difficult situations.

How many things I do when the soul, in so much spiritual and material need, turns to me, looks at me and says to me: ‘YOU TAKE CARE OF IT,’ then closes its eyes and rests.

Repose in me, believing in my goodness, and I promise you by my love that, if you say, ‘You take care of it.’ I will take care of it all, I will console you, liberate you and guide you.
And when I must lead you on a path different from the one you see, I will prepare you, I will carry you in my arms; I will let you find yourself, like children who have fallen asleep their mother’s arms, on the other bank of the river.  What troubles you and hurts you immensely are your reason, your thoughts, and your worry, and your desire at all costs to deal with what afflicts you.” *

It does help! It helps not only a woman expecting labour like me.

Grateful for your prayers,

„Let prayer will not be a torture for you. Why do you put so much effort in it? Let it be something simple, easy, like a family talk…”*

Like with someone who’s close to us… About less and more important things. Warmly. In a feeling of complete safety.

And sometimes – just being close, very ordinarily. Without words.

Even for a short while.

Sunday

January 27, 2013 3:30 pm

„This day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” (Ne 8: 10)

„Sunday, Sunday, the time of joy and laughter” – as the Polish group of children, “The Noah’s Arc” sing. :-)

Maybe it’s not so much to be done so that it like that in my home? Maybe it’s enough a warmer voice, more smile, more kindness than usual and some kind attention to the family?

It’s so good when Sunday is a time of celebrating family time!

LISTEN.  MY YOUNGEST AND DEAREST SON, THAT THE THING THAT FRIGHTENED YOU, THE THING THAT AFFLICTED YOU IS NOTHING: DO NOT LET IT DISTURB YOU: (…) .
AM I NOT HERE, I, WHO AM YOUR MOTHER? ARE YOU NOT UNDER MY SHADOW AND PROTECTION? AM I NOT THE SOURCE OF YOUR JOY? ARE YOU NOT IN THE HOLLOW OF MY MANTLE, IN THE CROSSING OF MY ARMS? DO YOU NEED SOMETHING MORE? .

Wait…

serce ze świec

Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.” (Psalm 27:14)

We know for sure that He’s coming back again. He said so himself many times.

That’s why I, especially in the Advent, learn to expect Him with joy – like a beloved guest who likes to surprise us and never says when he’s going to visit us.

And I think it’s not so much the problem whether the Guest sees everything spanking clean. He cares more for my love, my kind reception and the ready heart. And the joy about His coming.

cheer up!

November 29, 2012 6:15 pm

When we give vent to our imagination, a fragment the Gospel for today can really frighten us. It is the description of things to happen shortly before Jesus’ second coming (Luke 21, 20-28). It’s so good that we’ve been warned! It’s so much easier to face up to difficult things when we can prepare for them beforehand. It’s a little bit like preparing for the marathon:) It’s necessary.

Jesus doesn’t want us to be helpless in fear. So we’ve received the guidelines:

‘.. stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near’.

We can start today, practising standing up and lifting our heads, with optimism and hope for the good that awaits us- and especially when we experience fear and oppression, when reality seems unbearable. We can always look ‘up’ – up there there’s always consolation and peace.
