The retreat in Wisełka- the third round

July 21, 2013 8:44 pm

Today the reatreat in Wisełka has begun again. Almost everyone has already arrived. You have to leave so much behind: job search or a job that you can’t really leave and  to which you have to devote some time also during the retreat: older and self-sufficient children or parents who must be taken care of.

What is left and taken is finally brought to the Adoration. Sometimes we can witness it when we hear the prayer intentions or just see the tears.

This is the time of believing and surrendering everything to God.

And on the other side there are now as many as three chaplains (Father Wiesław, Father Rafał and Father Radomir), two deacons and two seminarists, not to mention the strong team of Sisters.

Please support Wisełka this time again.

The lighthouse

July 19, 2013 3:30 pm

“What are lighthouses for?”, I ask our children when we try to reach the top of the  Lyngvig Fyr lighthouse.
“To warn the ships that they come near the land.”
“To show the way!”

“The lighthouse does not move so that the ships that get lost can choose their way again when they see it.”
I must say I have liked these answers very much.
And then the light coming from Christ came to mind, the light that warns against the danger and shows the way. It shines always strongly, so that regardless of how muddled and winding our life paths become, we can find our way again. The way to Him!
Greetings from the top of the lighthouse,

Dosia

It's not the way it's supposed to be?

July 17, 2013 6:31 pm

Again. I’m sure that each of the readers has known such moments in life. The moments when we wonder why we are where we are and why things are the way they are. IYou know, it’s like when you go in the mountains, reach the top and then everything is supposed to be OK. But why can’t you see anything, there’s fog around, and people going down said the views were splendid, your feet hurt although the shoes are not new, it keeps raining, the backpack gives you pin, even though you’ve made many trips with it and everything was fine, etc. Not that you assumed everything would be perfect, certainly not. But not that bad, either!

But who told you that’s gonna be “the way it’s supposed to be”? In fact, we never know what it’s gonna be like. Sometimes the reality comes close to the expactations, and that’s all. What’s left is Hope. The virtue. If He is with us, what can it bother us that things are the way they are and not differently? Maybe it’s better for me this way? I may develop more, I may understand something, I may grow to something. I know, it’s easily said. But these thoughts kepte me alive when things went “wrong” and I Hope that I’ll understand also this time why things are the way they are.

Good moments for the family

July 15, 2013 9:56 am

Our children and we – the parents – have great fun putting into practice the ideas for games described in the following book:
Obrazek
All kinds of rough and tumble play, pillow fights, rolling and cuddling are for us the time of laughter, relax, joy and being close to one another. We strengthen the ties among us and get rid of our resentments and stress.

According to the authors of this book physical games have an impact on physical and psychical health. Among other things, they develop children’s courage, confidence, trust and perseverance.

We recommend it!

A moment's break

July 14, 2013 10:01 pm

How different is our House in Wisełka when a group of participants leave. One or two couples still come to the Holy Mass or to the dining room but now there’s place for everyone here and we have even several empty tables.

The break is not only to relax before the next group arrives but much more to prepare the House for them: to decorate each room, to sign each door so that everyone feels welcome.

Just like in each home when one of the household is away for a while and we all await their return. As the people say who often come here: you don’t come here, you come back here.

Renewal of marriage vows

July 10, 2013 7:02 pm

It’s like a summary of the retreat. The old principle of retreats was: intra totus, mane solus, exi alius (enter whole, stay on your own, leave different).
Enter whole – remember who you are as a WHOLE, you who are so often reduced to the role of a worker, driver, bath maid or a storyteller.
Stay on your own so as to hear the voice of Jesus and to reflect whether your “career path” fully covers the vocation you have received.
Leave different – in the best, consistent and true version of yourself, that is worthy of who you are – a relational creature, created in love and image of God who has been loving you since the versy first moment of your life.
Everyone is so beautiful in the chapel. And there’s so much enthusiasm and hope in the moment of renewal of the vows. The married couples have known different moments but they all have a common desire: to be a better husband/ a better wife.

The free place

July 8, 2013 8:17 pm

In the morning I see a paper in the hall with the hours of the Adoration at night. Well, I don’t know, I say to myself, I went to the Adoration yesterday, if I go now, I might snatch the place from somebody who did not put his name on the list in time. The hours available are far less numerous than participants. Besides, would He like to meet me again? I decide that if by the time of dinner “my” hour stays free, I’ll take it. Before dinner the whole list is full, save the time slot between 2 and 3 am. The time I had hoped for so much is free.

He waits for each of us so much. No-one can take your place in His heart. Looking at you, when you enter, He welcomes you and invites you. Nothing will frighten Him or seem to Him too complicated. Even if sometimes in a room full of people you feel so lonely because of your difficulties that your only friend seems to be a spider on the wall, He is infinitely close to you . He saves you, protects you and frees you from isolation. He knows that you need His love, healing and grace to love and forgive and to save others.

Blessed are the hours when He wants to pass time with us.

The Chapelet

July 6, 2013 4:56 pm

I have recently spent some time in a parochial church, where in a separate chapel it was possible to adore Jesus Christ in the Holy Sacrament. I like sitting in the first bench so as to be as close to Him as possible.

Of course I knew that there were also other people in the chapel but then it was only me and Him. At some point I began to notice that there were other, probably elderly, people around: sighs, shuffling of pages, whispered prayers that are still audible. I admit that in the first raction I thought it was a pity that someone came and disrupted the peace. But then the reflection came that I was witnessing the different ways in which pople were bringing their lives to Jesus. And when someone began to recite the Chapelet, taken up and repeated by everyone, I thought that these were the pople who kept the world in reins. This prayer, so humble, ordinary and full of human presence, makes the Church serve.

So when someone approached me and asked me if they could confess, it was no longer difficult to leave “my” prayer and “my” time with God but I could joyously fulfil my mission. I am ashamed of this first reaction of mine but also thankful bacuse God has broadened my heart and look.

How many mothers and fathers like that keep praying for their children and in so many other intentions? We can do so much with our faithful prayers, we can save so many souls.

Help without the contract with a sickness fund

July 5, 2013 8:15 pm

“It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick”. (Matthew 9:12b)

Retreat is the time when we show our wounds to God. First you think that you need to arrive combed and well clad so as to make a good impression on Him. Sometimes you can also come very worried, feeling that you don’t fulfil the expectations.

But for God it is important that you are accepted regardless of what you are like. And that you are so long awaited in father’s house not because of what you can offer but to be offered. To be assured that you are loved and to be healed because in today’s Gospel He says about Himself that He’s a doctor.

He is an exceptional doctor. When He exposes the sore and wounded places He does not humiliate the patient but does it very gently. Sometimes everything is dried up, sometimes the wounds rankle and sometimes the patient has lost hope for a good prognosis. It’s good because we can finally let the Specialist take care of us. He is a patient doctor who has time. There is no queue in the waiting room and He knows the whole medical history, all the injuries and wounds. And He know the best cure.

We call Him through our sufering, limitations and sin that He can touch with His love. The first contact aid.

Identity

July 4, 2013 10:07 pm

“Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household”. (Ephesians 2: 19)

For the Lord even what we think of ourselves is important, how we call ourselves. He knows how these words can lift us up and strengthen us and which words have the opposite effect. He wants us to have a helathy self-confidence built on Him. Therefore He gives us through His wor a beautiful identity: fellow citizens with God’s people and members of His household. He looks at us as His people. He invites us to be His dear and near, members of His household.

When we believe His word and look at Him with His eyes, it alsways lead us to a happier and better “me”.
