“’My friend, I am not cheating you. Did you not agree with me for the usual daily wage? Take what is yours and go. What if I wish to give this last one the same as you? Or am I not free to do as I wish with my own money? Are you envious because I am generous?’ Thus, the last will be first, and the first will be last.” (MT 20: 13-16)
Our Lord is generous, and whatever He does for us comes from His heart full of love . The time is less important to Him than to us, and He can give the same to the last one as to the first one: “thus, the last will be first, and the first will be last.” He never breaks the agreement—“did you not agree with me for the usual daily wage,” but as a merciful Lord, He can do much more for us.
“The word of God is living and effective, able to discern the reflections and thoughts of the heart.” (Gospel Acclamation)
