All you need say is “Yes” if you mean “Yes”.

“All you need say is “Yes” if you mean ‘Yes”, “No” if you mean no; anything more is from the Evil One.” (MT 5: 37)

We have a new mentality, especially among politicians: “Yes, but.” So, we do not know if the “yes” is “yes” or depends on something else, or “yes” is “no.” Our Lord expects from us, that when we say “yes” it means “yes.” When we say: I love you, it means what it means: I will be always with you, I will never stop loving you, and I will do whatever is possible to make you the most loving person in the world; and this is my responsibility and my gift for you.

“Incline my heart, O God, to your decrees; and favor me with your law.” (Gospel Acclamation)
