a person entrusted with much

“Much will be required of the person entrusted with much, and still more will be demanded of the person entrusted with more.” (LK 12: 48)

I like to see this sentence from the opposite side: it is about requirements of course, but also, and foremost, about being entrusted with much and more. God’s grace is always first; before God will ask us of anything, He comes with His grace, support, assistance, and protection. When we think about requirements alone, without entrustment, we are losing something important. Marriage is a very great vocation, not easy, but also extremely equipped by God.
