Not that others should have relief while you are burdened

“Not that others should have relief while you are burdened, but that as a matter of equality your abundance at the present time should supply their needs, so that their abundance may also supply your needs, that there may be equality. As it is written:
Whoever had much did not have more, and whoever had little did not have less.” (2 COR 8: 13-15)

This is a very important point we often forget: “not that others should have relief while you are burdened;” it happens in family life, and it happens in our relationships. But this is an important “matter of equality.” When we do not respect ourselves, we will have a problem with respecting others. The gift of self always results in a win-win relationship. Other solutions could put us in danger.

“Our Savior Jesus Christ destroyed death and brought life to light through the Gospel.” (Gospel Acclamation)
